 21st Century Scholars Program

The Twenty-first Century Scholars Campaign will run during the month of December. Belzer’s goal is to educate our entire student body and families about the program. In addition, we want to enroll as many eligible students because they are not allowed to enroll after eighth grade.  The Twenty-first Century Scholars Program began in 1990 as Indiana's way of raising the educational aspirations of low- and moderate-income families. The program aims to ensure that all Indiana families can afford a college education for their children.  Click here for full details.

College Prep Curriculum & Conversations About Bullying

Students will have the opportunity throughout the school year, during College Prep, to view and discuss information about bullying, peer pressure, teen drug use and a host of other teen related topics.  We believe parents should have access to this information in order to continue the conversations at home.  Click here to review the all activities.

Webgrades - Students are able to view their grades on a daily basis via Skyward Webgrades.  Parents may have the same access, but with greater detail by applying for parent log-in codes.  Please click here for detailed instructions on obtaining a username and password for yourself as well as instructions on how to help your student review his/her webgrades from.

Vocabulary is a huge focus at Belzer.  We have instituted a "School-Wide Vocabulary List."  Click here to print and review the 2012-2013 list.

Dressing for Success and Electronics - The Belzer Dress Code and electronics policy will be strictly enforced.  Please use this link to review our policy.

Belzer Middle School serves over 1400 students and their families in grades 7 and 8.  At Belzer we believe that all students are capable of learning.  All students have talents and gifts that are unique and useful in making our school the best it can be. It is our role as professional, caring adults to model the expected behaviors, and become lifelong learners.

Cutting Edge Education

The Belzer staff works diligently to meet the academic and affective needs of the early adolescent.  Each student is given opportunities to develop academic talents through a variety of challenging learning experiences.  Students' social and emotional growth is fostered and encouraged within a safe and supportive environment.  Two of the many unique learning opportunities available to our students are the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program and our SMART School partnership with Roche Diagnostics.

Belzer has been named the Outstanding Middle School in the Great Lakes Region by the United States Military Academy at West Point.  This achievement was based upon quality of instructional staff, academic achievement, diversity of student population and parental involvement.

Our school supports our district-wide, award-winning "Caring About Character" initiative in which our students are taught and encouraged to follow our "Lifeskills for Building Character."
